The theme of International Womens Day 2025, is to collectively Accelerate Action for gender equality. At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. This is a timely call for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.In this issue of Champions for Change, we include profiles of vet women around the world who are taking positive action. These individuals are engaged in pursing significant change: overcoming restrictions on womens education, helping business owners push past obstacles to do with their sex, race, beliefs or circumstances, increasing the representation and recognition of veterinary nurses, breaking stereotypes of the veterinary professions, addressing cultural stigmas to advance veterinary education and breaking gender barriers in leadership. We are honoured to be able to share some stories of inspirational individuals nominated by their peers who are making a difference and creating positive change for women in the veterinary sector.
